Hello, I'm Elena
I work as a project manager, am a parent, and I reside abroad as an expat in Rome, Italy.
Several years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually opened a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Began
Moving to Italy wasn’t in the grand plan. Like many relocations for expats, it started with a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new schedules, fresh expectations. Routine tasks seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually, routines settled in. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created Plain Harbor Leaf
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that void — practical advice drawn from real life in Italy.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on insight from living in Italy
- Centered on family life and daily real-world experiences
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site is not:
- A tourism board resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stays in Italy go on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll keep recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Rome or anywhere in Italy, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Elena
